Boreal Beats is a throwback radio station that plays all the most commonly-known "golden oldies" from the decades genre. Songs from the 40s to the 90s are played throughout the week at designated times for listeners to enjoy the nostalgia and sentiment of their favourite classic tunes, and the website & graphic content is designed to fit the retro wave theme. The visual retro aesthetic and choice of older songs is meant to provide listeners with a pleasant memory of "the good old days" while simultaneously giving them enough high energy audio to jam out while performing daily activities. The songs played throughout the day include upbeat, "feel-good" music by various artists and transitions into more electronic-based, easy listening classics as the evening progresses. This is done to match the energy of listeners as they engage in their typical daytime and nighttime activities. Most of the songs played by Boreal Beats include tracks that listeners can dance to as well.
As time goes on, Boreal Beats will add other features to the radio station, including a talk show, movie and book reviews (referred to the website) and drawings & giveaway contests. Giveaways will be done largely for marketing/advertising purposes, but other small events may be hosted as well for general community engagement. Paid external advertising will be done mostly through the website, as streamed audio ads will be kept to a minimum. Boreal Beats will seek out advertisers and marketing media that matches the vintage feel of the radio station and website, to ensure a consistent experience by radio station listeners and website visitors. Merchandise may be sold on the website at a later date but no plans are set as of the current date.
This station is based in Alaska and is family owned and operated. The choice of music and artistic style were chosen by its two cofounders, sibling pair Aurora and Christian, respectively.
